Solar Eclipse 2017

Pamlico County Library is helping our community celebrate the “celestial event of the century,” a solar eclipse on Monday, August 21.

Although not total in Pamlico County, the sun will be significantly blocked, requiring special glasses for safe direct viewing. To celebrate the eclipse, check out a book from our solar display, or participate in a Solar Eclipse Word Puzzle (also available at our circulation desk).

CPC Regional Library has received solar glasses from the Space Science Institute through a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Google and Research Corporation. Special events are being held at all the CPC libraries and all libraries are participating in a Community Read event featuring the novel "Jade Dragon Mountain" by Elsa Hart.

Pamlico Library Visitors will receive solar viewing glasses as long as supplies last. Quantities are limited. For additional information contact the Pamlico Library at 252-745-3515.

What does that mean for me?
Current users of the library catalog will need to update their bookmarks to the new library catalog web address. No changes are being made to the catalog itself and will function as normal, though there may be a short time of unavailability on Saturday evening and Sunday. The new web address will be available on June 12.
